Liz Glass, President/Chair
Elizabeth Todd Glass, "Liz", has been a member of the Chorus since January 2007 and has been the Soprano Section Leader, Librarian and Stage Director since September of that year. Liz was appointed president of the chorus in January 2012. Liz is a Realtor and Associate Broker affiliated with Long and Foster Realtors in the Bel Air Central office and served as the 2009 President of the Harford County Association of Realtors, 2005 Realtor of the Year Award recipient for the Harford County Association and 2007 Community Service Award recipient at the local and state level . She sings Soprano with the chorus as well as with her church choir at Emmanuel Episcopal in Bel Air. Liz is a lifelong resident of Bel Air and graduate of Bel Air High School. Capt. Jim McMahan, Choral Director Emeritus and Emcee
Capt'n Jim McMahan is a native Bellairian and no stranger to vocal music. During his high school years he was an annual participant in the Maryland High School Chorus that performed during the Maryland State Teachers Convention in Baltimore. It was during that time he tried out for the first ever National High School Chorus and represented Maryland in St. Louis singing under Dr. Peter J Wilhousky, Superintendent of Public School Music in NYC and the arranger of the most popular version of the Battle Hymn of the Republic performed nationally. Jim graduated from Western Md College where he was the President of the College Choir and sang lead roles with the Baltimore Symphony and the National Symphony in Washington DC. While serving in the Army he directed the combined choirs of the MT Pocono (PA) Methodist Church and the U.S. Army Tobyhanna Signal Depot. In the mid 60's Jim was instrumental in creating the Bel Air Community Band. In 2002 while serving as a Bel Air Town Commissioner he organized the Bel Air Community Chorus and was the group's first director. He retired as the morning host of WAMD's morning show in 2003 and ran for public office. He was elected twice to serve on the Bel Air Board of Town Commissioners and was elected to the Harford County Council in 2006 and reelected in 2010. Capt'n Jim spent 36 years serving his country on active duty, in the reserves and finally the guard. He retired in 1996 attaining the rank of Colonel. COL McMahan (R) was the recipient of numerous honors including a Meritorious Unit Citation, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Ribbon, Reserve Component Ribbon, the Maryland Meritorious Service Medal and the French National Defense Medal - Gold Echelon. Jim is married to his wife "Melody". His daughter, The Rev Betsy Diann McMahan and son James V McMahan III Esq. and wife Jennifer, grandchildren Carlyn and James V (Jack).McMahan IV also live in Bel Air.

Jenny Anderson, Assistant Choral Director
Jenny earned her Bachelor's Degreee in music Education from Towson University. She recently retired from teaching in the Maryland Public School System for 30 years, during which time she conducted All County and Honors Choruses in both Baltimore and Cecil Counties. In addition, she has served as accompanist for the Harford County All County Middle School Chorus, and for Cor Rehoboth and the Phoenix choir of Maryland. Jenny lives in Forest Hill with her husband and two daughters.

Jay Althouse, Choral Director
Jay Althouse is the Director of Choral Music for Susquehannock High School and Southern Middle School in the Southern York County School District, Glen Rock, PA; where he directs the six vocal ensembles for grades seven through twelve, and teaches general music classes. He graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Music Education from Lebanon Valley College, where he studied voice under Mrs. Victoria Rose, piano under Dr. Shelly Moorman-Stahlman and Dr. Dennis Sweigart, and choral conducting under Dr. Mark Mecham. Jay is currently completing his graduate thesis at Boston University and will complete his Master of Music degree in September 2013.
In addition to being an educator Jay is also very involved in musical theatre, serving on the Board of Directors of Liberty Showcase Theatre, Owings Mills, Maryland. He has been involved with many musical theatre productions as an actor, stage manager, set designer, music director and director in various high school and community theatres in Pennsylvania and Maryland as well as a professional dinner theatre in Pennsylvania. Most recently Jay served as stage manager, co-music director, and co-director for Liberty Showcase’s production of Cinderella (Summer 2011) and Godspell (Summer 2012). He has served as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator in PA and MD. Jay is also a solo performer and an experienced church musician.
